Book recommendations

I transformed the Page for book recommendations to a post in order to create a more broader knowledge base of multiple ressources as page. And also gives it a better opportunity to increase the portfolio by new posts without constantly modifying the existing ones. So let's go:

Why so old school?

I Love miniature related books. It's my main source of inspiration.

You might ask “Why? The Internet is full of amazing inspirational images and reference miniatures".

The answer is simple. Reading a book is a hole different commitment than browsing the Internet.

It's the same as with music streaming - Spotify vs vinyl. While streaming you are often jumping between artist, randomly selected recommendations and songs while doing something different aside or being on the road.

But the LP is a commitment to listen to a conceptually created piece in context, with a properly selected order of songs and you can’t listen on the go.

I’ve gathered quite a bunch of books. Some explicitly about miniature painting, others not but still very helpful. Some are specific step by step guides for certain miniatures, others are general how-to's or concepts and others again are bibliographic. All of those I’ll write about helped me, inspired me or found a good place in my memories for the one or other reason.

Now there are of course books that didn't catch me as mich as others. Maybe cause I didn’t get any connection to or they just didn’t suite my interests. I will not write not about all the hobby books I read. It shall be an overview on the ones that I suggest for above reasons. To avoid any wrong impression or unintended dishonor on a public page for an author that had put is effort in soul I to a book, I’ll just not write any feedback about those.

In the following I'll list my favorites and. Definitely there will be some more details about the individual books but it's not easy to find a proper style yet. Writing about the book is not the issue, but images violate Copyrights and a blog entry without images is boring.
