Painting events - Like Minded Live
So let's try to do an event report - Since all past events are a blurry memory, I'll not open that boxes again. But for those where the memory is still fresh, I'll give it a try.
I wrote quite some text about the Bembel but finally deleted it. It's just not
possible to put the experience of such events in words. It'slike when I tell
friends and colleagues that I attended a Miniature event for 2 days. THen they
mostly ask "And what are you doing 2 days with a bunch of figures?"
Well
- I babble something about community, friends, shopping, awards ... and all of
them still think I'm crazy or stupid.
And since it's hard to put in words, I'll use it for a brief description, badly lit pictures, and a shoutout to some of the great things and people I remember - An impression how motivating a great community is.
The Scope
The second edition of the Bembel Miniature Cup run this year from 22nd to 23rd of March. It's near frankfurt and for me nearby (~2h drive). This time about 600 minis in exhibition and a set of well known vendors.
Impressions and shoutout
Nekropainter & Krischa - For the beer and organizing a Grappa from Dino
Tasso - For the beautiful new torquise (-;
Klaus - for chatting and laughing and your amazing storytelling minis
Crew - for your passion
Zwerg von Nettenscheid - For pushing my buying decision with the phrase: "it's the last one I have"
Oliver Spaeth
- For bringing the amazing diorama
Robert & Margot Crombeecke - For the special award and the long time to chat
Tamer - just for
seeing you again mate
Mo - What a display. Love your stuff
Hansi - still can't wait for your space marine diorama
Flo - Sorry that the hunger dragged me away from your talk
Christoph - For No more ducks to give
Joe's burger - for probably the best burger I ever had - Felt like Samuel L. Jackson
And some other great stuff like
And many many others
Aftermath
The resut still puzzles me alot - I received a gold in "Master Story Telling "and an SMC special award. I'm super happy about that and appreciate that feedback alot, but on the other side it feels kinda too early for me.
Im confident with my story telling but not at all at my painting. And an immediate Gold with the first masters category entry feels like a one hit wonder. Let's see what the future will bring - and treat such events as exhibition not competition.
Oh, and the loot. I'm not a big fan of posting shopping bags. But in that scope it makes some sense - it's a diary and where the minis that are painted come from is a reasonable part of that.
