Painting the Mini Bust Taddeus the Purifier
Reference and Plan
Painting this dude didn't start that spectacular. I found a great artwork of him online and tried to mimic it.

The artwork had green shadows and a tint of brown in the cloak - so these were my main colors
The brown and green were mixed as shadow color and the remaining ones were aligned with the reference artwork.
Unfortunately this was fast done in a single painting session and I missed many WIP shots, but to get to that point wasn't more than 3 hours of work - he is realy tiny.
Metal - My inner demon
Some words on the metallics.
I never had a good hang with either metallics, nor NMM.
Unfortunately, metal parts are on nearly every mini. That's means I have to face my inner demons sooner or later.
So I took some test minis and experimented a lot with TMM - Spoiler: Semi success. But there are so many thoughts and insights so that I'll need a separate post to structure these. Now for Taddeus, it was a simple TMM, plus glazing darker colors for shadow areas. That's quite visible on the back and side view, the gold is very dull and dark there. In summary, the gold looks okay live - but a bit awkward on the photos. The bust in general - I like it a lot. It turned out way more green than the original reference, but the colder moody look is somehow appealing.
Maybe in total it was about 8 - 10 hours of painting and building. A great and quick project that touched delicate new areas for me - green stuff and made me face my inner demons, the metallcis.
